Pastor Garrett Buvinghausen
Rev. Garrett Buvinghausen was born in Houston Texas on November 26, 1986 to Keith and Debbie Buvinghausen, and he was born into the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism on December 21, 1986. His Christian faith was nourished at Fishers of Men Lutheran Church in Sugar Land Texas. Later, he graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown Texas in May 2009 with a BA in Theatre. He worked as a paralegal for several years after college and volunteered with the youth group at Fishers of Men in his spare time. He began graduate studies at Huntington University in Huntington Indiana in 2012 and graduated in May 2015 with an MA in Youth Ministry Leadership before entering Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne Indiana in August 2015. From July 2017 to August 2018, he served as Vicar at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Valley City, Ohio, under the supervision of Rev. Philip Zielinski. In September 2018 he returned to the Seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity on May 17, 2019. While at Concordia Theological Seminary, he sang for two years in the Seminary Kantorei Choir. He was ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry and installed as the pastor at Resurrection Lutheran Church on July 6, 2019. Pastor Buvinghausen is blessed to be here in the beautiful hill country of Fredericksburg to serve God's people as pastor.
In the fall of 2017 while on vicarage in Ohio, Pastor Buvinghausen was introduced to his future wife, Emilia (nee Mugnolo) whose father was a pastor in the same circuit outside of Cleveland. Emilia was heading to the Seminary in Fort Wayne to be a deaconess student which is where they continued to date until they were engaged on September 20, 2018. They were married on May 24, 2019 at Kramer Chapel on the campus of Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana by Rev. David Petersen. The Buvinghausens like to spend their time taking walks, going to see live music, and getting out around Fredericksburg and the rest of the hill country. They look forward to the blessings that God has in store for them here at Resurrection.
